Frequently Asked Booking Questions

Stree Shakti is ideal for high-impact, women-led and globally resonant cultural programming. Epic Tabla Stories is best for curated, immersive and theme-led presentations in theatres, museums and heritage settings. Recharge suits open-air festivals, crossover audiences and world-music stages looking for strong rhythmic energy.

Yes. Each program can be supported with a concise EPK, performance images, media links, short program notes and direct booking contact details, making it easy for curators and venue teams to review suitability and next steps.

Yes. Depending on the production, the line-up and presentation can be tailored to venue scale, programming context and technical realities, while preserving the artistic identity and integrity of the work.

Founded in 1996, Stree Shakti was the world’s first all-female ensemble to blend Hindustani and Carnatic traditions. Beyond the music, it broke a 500-year glass ceiling in percussion—a field previously closed to women. Its debut at WOMAD 1999 was broadcast to 56 countries, earning the nickname "The Indian Spice Girls" from Rockstar Sting.

Epic Tabla Stories is a narrative revolution where the Tabla itself becomes the "voice" of the story. It is an immersive A/V experience that weaves spiritual themes (like Ramayan on Tabla) with rare instruments and visuals. It’s designed for curators seeking a "cinematic" stage presence that bridges classical depth with modern theatre.

Recharge made history as India’s only representative at the legendary Woodstock Festival in 2008, performing on the main stage to a record audience of 400,000 fans. The ensemble’s ability to fuse Rajasthani folk and Sufi melodies with Latin and African rhythms makes it a "borderless" performance that has headlined global stages from Cardiff to Singapore.

Stree Shakti has headlined major international festivals including:
  • UK: WOMAD Reading (1999) for 150,000 fans, Barbican Hall, and BBC Music Live.
  • Europe: Woodstock Festival (Poland, 2008) for 400,000 fans, Philharmonie de Paris, and Sangam Festival (Germany).
  • Asia/Pacific: Bangkok International Music Festival, Victoria Arts Hall (Singapore), and the Commonwealth Games Festival.

The ensemble has graced India's most elite cultural platforms, including the ITC SRA Sangeet Sammelan, Dover Lane Music Conference, and the Elephanta & Banganga Festivals. They have also performed at diplomatic summits such as SAARC and CHOGM for various Prime Ministers and dignitaries.

Founded on International Women’s Day in 1996, Anuradha created Stree Shakti to provide a platform for exceptionally talented female musicians who were struggling for equal opportunities in a male-dominated field. By bridging the gap between Hindustani and Carnatic traditions, the band became a symbol of gender empowerment and cultural unity.

In 2008, Recharge made history as the only Indian ensemble to perform on the main stage of the Woodstock Festival (Poland). Led by Anuradha Pal, the band performed for a record-breaking audience of over 400,000 people, blending Indian classical virtuosity with high-energy global fusion—a performance still cited as a milestone for Indian music on the world stage.
