“Raaga, taal composition are sculpted
with the sounds of peace more than quietude and chant, Anuradha Pal
opens the vistas of a journey that end in a vision of shantI”

“It is an eminently hearable anthology of Hindu
devotional and metaphysical poetry. The music transcends rhetoric.”
- India Today magazine, Jan ’01. |

“Tabla player Anuradha Pal tries a different
beat on the album’Nirvana’, by playing and composing spiritual
music. By interfusing the recitation of shlokas with classical based
music and strong percussion, she creates something that will lend
an easy and peaceful feeling. It is an ideal cassette to start the
day with”. – Midday Newspaper-

“The music has a sense of direction & definiteness
about it. The way the music unfolds makes it sound like a raga mala
or a string of ragas. The album is innovative and has an appeal even
for those who are not fully into classical music. Exciting!!! - A.

“The concept, music & direction is by Tabla
maestro & music composer Anuradha Pal & is yet another Shanti
experience, more traditional and rooted in Indian music and certainly
more philosophically profound. Shlokas from the Upanishad, Bhagwat
Geeta, dohas from Sant Gyaneshwar and Meerabai’s bhajans are
very beautifully interspersed with appropriate ragas to creat varied
moods from meditative to joyous. Vocals by Shubhada Paradkar oozing
with energy and vitality, very typically of the Gwalior Gharana and
Ram Despande are worth listening too. A must buy for those in search
of peace.” - Raga to Rock Magazine’01. |

Anuradha Pal attempts to open out an all-encompassing
musical idea in this album, diverse and pointed in its multiple references
to purush, prakriti, the seasons, the day-night cycle, the elements
and nature, to devotional literature & the sanskrit language.
It is an evocation of all that is classical, stable, and perennial
in music and word. The journey through the metaphors of peace or Shanti
brings the listener close to the epic texts and indeed to an overall
chant about life based on raaga colours. The rhythms and tunes seem
to sprout quietly and then grow into a feisty demonstration of raaga
and traditional compositions. Intermingling the genres of music, as
bhajan and khayal and orchestrating scales, this CD is primarily a
devotion to sound and the maati (the earth) from which it emerges-

| Concept of ‘Nirvana’: |
 |
The album gives a never done before bird’s
eye view of the spiritual essence of India. Here the composer,
Anuradha Pal takes us on musical journey interweaving Sanskrit
shlokas with different ragas journeying the passage of life
from Creation to Moksha creating moods from meditative to invigorating,
from sombre to joyous. This album goes beyond religion, community
and country to help us connect to ourselves, to that inner GOD,
to find inner peace and fulfillment... |
| |
|
 |
This album has been very well researched and put together
using material from the Upanishads, Vedas, Bhagwad Geeta, Gyaneshwari
Dohas, Bhajans amongst others. Most albums released in the market
concentrate on devotion towards a particular God or religion
but this goes beyond to embrace a wide spectrum of world music
listeners who are looking for spiritual and meditative peace… |
